How Artificial Intelligence can elevate your professional life

For the first time in history, we are at a point where it’s impossible to predict what the world will look like in 10 years from now. In the old days, we could draw on the experience and wisdom of our parents and other mentors to help us navigate through life. How they did things, was helpful for us. We could copy some of it and it would still work out for us too. Today, it’s completely different.

Artificial Intelligence is changing our society fundamentally. And nobody knows what is going to happen. Even the creators of AI are surprised with what AI can generate and don’t know exactly how their own technology works. To a certain extent, it’s a black box. For the first time in history, we have a tool in our hands that can make decisions on its own. Computers taking decisions about us, humans, will further increase. Today they already start to decide whether we get a mortgage or a job. Imagine how AI could operate an autonomous weapon system? And secondly, for the first time in history, we have a tool in our hands that can generate its own ideas. A system that can do inventions. Something that was always the exclusively our human domain. Welcome to the age of AI.

So, what can you to today to prepare yourself for the years to come? Be ready to challenge everything. Don’t become a victim of your own inertia! How you used to be successful, is probably not going to help you in the future. Be open to change your approach and reinvent yourself! Continue to develop yourself. And we know that this is incredibly difficult for most of us.

What can you do today to prepare yourself? By taking some small action steps. Differentiating your actions between WHAT (the AI business issue) and the HOW (the way to do it).

  1. WHAT: Start by playing with AI. Take a deeper dive. Discuss with others how AI will affect your industry and profession.
  2. HOW: Build in time for deep reflection. If you’re overwhelmed and stressed, you lose perspective. You get caught up in a vicious cycle. Therefore, get your basics right: carve out time for rejuvenation. Possible actions: Get up one hour earlier. Go to bed two hours earlier. Learn to meditate. Work out. Get in better physical shape. Change your diet. Socialize more by increasing your number of inspirational friends.
  3. HOW: Change your routines. Reflect for yourself and discuss with someone you trust what your current habits are. Discuss to what extent they still serve you, or hold you back? Create space and time to develop new forward-looking routines that serve you better for the years to come.
  4. HOW: Read, listen, think, and write. Not only about AI, but in general. Read more and listen to some great podcasts. But be selective. Spend time on selecting what you are going to let into your brain. Go on an urgent news diet. Reflecting on what you learn and writing some of it down is so powerful. Fighting AI makes no sense. Simply embrace it and accept it for what it is. Figure out ways to catch the AI wave.

Hope this inspires.
